Discussion:
Jumbled Type in Side Bar

I just installed Office 2008 for Mac, but I am still using Office 2004 for a project. After installing 2008, I opened my 2004 (in the 2004 version) document and now on the side where the text from each slide appears, the type is jumbled. This can't be normal... it renders the function of the side bar useless. What to do?

Have you fully updated Office 2004 (11.5.7)? How about Office 2008 (12.2.3).

It also sounds like you may have been bitten by the Office 2008/Snow Leopard
font conundrum. See if this will resolve it;

Quit all programs then lunch the Apple Font Book app.
Run its Validate Fonts as well as its Resolve Duplicates routines.
Go to Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft & trash Office Font Cache (11),
then empty the Trash.
Restart your Mac & launch PPT, then open the file.

I want to Thank You as well. I had a similar problem with jumbled fonts on a Powerpoint file I opened in 2004 on my MAC Pro. I followed all your steps and it resolved the issue completely.
