How do you set a default table?

Is it possible to set a default for tables? <br><br>I've been looking at PC-focused manuals and have seen something about selecting &quot;Chart type&quot; and clicking user-defined something or other. But I can't find this option on PPT for Mac 2008. <br><br>Thanks!

Are you referring to Tables or Charts? You mention one in the Subject &
first sentence, the other in your second paragraph. Assuming you do mean
Tables, you can't 'set a default' but you can add one to the Scrapbook.

Create the table as you want it, Copy it, then click the arrow on the Add
button of the Scrapbook Palette & choose 'Add from clipboard'. Double-click
the new item added to the Scrapbook & give it a name.

To use it in the future, though, do not drag it from the Scrapbook. Instead,
select it then click the Paste button in Scrapbook Palette.

Without knowing what you're citing pertinent to Charts I can only guess that
the reference in those manuals pertains to Office 2003/4 & prior. The
charting applet provided for 'Custom Chart Types'. That engine isn't used as
the default in 2007/2008, but it is still available if you use Insert>
Object> Microsoft Graph Chart. However, none of the newer effects can be
applied to those older chart objects.

Ah, okay - I had tried the Scrapbook but dragged it over. This instruction was key: <br><br>&quot;Instead, select it then click the Paste button in Scrapbook Palette.&quot; <br><br>Thank you for help on creating table defaults.

Bob, it's weird but now when I click the Paste button in the Scrapbook Palette, it pastes a picture of the table not the table. I used both Paste, and Paste and Picture, and just plain ol' Conrol + V. Any idea what happened?

I can't say - I've never experienced that. What happens if you recreate the
table as a new scrapbook item?
